Don't you love it when you wake up the morning after a particularly hard taiko workout and are achey and sore and it just feels good? You suddenly realize: oh, well why does that hurt? I didn't even know I had muscles in there! But it's all good. I'm not complaining.
It's matsuri season again. We didn't play Morgan Hill this year, which was sad, but kind of a relief since things are a little, uh, in-transition, at the dojo. But we are going to be playing again at the Cupertino Cherry Blossom Festival, which is something we do every year. Last night I went to an extra class to try to remember one of the songs I played perfectly fine at that concert, but have since completely forgotten. It's something of a power song with lots of ka's and kiai's. Did I tell you? Since we have our new space, we've been playing the drums without those stupid pads on them. We're loud and proud, baby! Special emphasis on the loud part.
And training for my big footrace in May is coming along, but in the past month it's rained every day except for one. I am one of those people who just wilt if the sun doesn't come out, and I'm telling you, this rain-every-day thing is not making me very happy. It's mid-april. The sun should be out, everything should be in bloom--but no. Give me a heat wave any day.
